From educational leadership to an individual practice.

Before founding GiftED, I spent more than a decade at Brain Power Enrichment, ultimately leading its Toronto campuses. Three years ago, I established my own educational consultancy to offer something deliberately personal: highly individualized support designed around each student’s strengths, needs, academic goals and aspirations.

That commitment to individual attention continues to shape how I work today: directly with each student, with the strategy built around the person rather than a standardized program.

Potential is individual.
Strategy should be too.

Students with similar grades, ages or admissions goals do not necessarily need the same preparation. One may need greater analytical depth; another may need stronger written communication; another may understand difficult material but struggle to express ideas under pressure.

GiftED does not begin with a standardized package. The work begins by identifying the individual, the goal and the demands ahead, then designing the preparation around those factors.

From Shakespeare to Generative AI.

I trained as a Shakespeare scholar, completing my Ph.D. in English at the University of Toronto. My academic research has focused particularly on Shakespearean drama, culminating in the publication of my book, Shakespeare and the Strategies of an Opening, in 2023.

I also work as a writing consultant across several writing centres at the University of Toronto, supporting undergraduate and graduate students with academic writing, argument and communication.

More recently, my research has focused on how Generative AI and large language models (LLMs) are changing the educational needs of students—particularly the decisions students make about when and how to use AI in their academic work. I have been developing research in this area and presenting this work at academic conferences and professional forums.

These different parts of my work are closely connected. Whether I am studying Shakespeare, working with university writers, researching AI or teaching younger students, my focus remains on helping students become careful readers, independent thinkers and confident communicators.

A boutique practice with a broader reach.
